Russia-Ukraine conflict: How many nuclear weapons does Russia have?
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered Russia's nuclear forces to remain on "special" alert, raising concerns around the world.
With these measures, Russia may want to warn other countries not to interfere in the escalation of tensions in Ukraine, nor does it intend to use nuclear weapons.
Nuclear weapons have been around for almost 80 years, and many countries see them as a defense capability that guarantees their national security.

How many nuclear weapons does Russia have?
All nuclear weapons figures are based on estimates, Russia has 5,977 nuclear warheads, the devices that trigger a nuclear explosion, although it has about 1,500 that last. It has been completed and now they have to be destroyed.
But that doesn't mean Russia has thousands of long-range nuclear weapons.Experts say there are currently only 1,588 Russian warheads "deployed", meaning the weapons are mounted on missiles, bombers or submarines at sea.
Should we worried on this scenario?
The likelihood of a nuclear confrontation has increased slightly but is still low.Even if the statement was made by President Putin only to warn other countries and they have no intention of using nuclear weapons, it could be misinterpreted by the opposition or the situation. If left unmanaged, they can be left astray and lose the right path.
Britain has so far not seen any change in the actual state of Russia's nuclear weapons or any movement of them.Intelligence sources have confirmed that it will be closely monitored.
